Revive Post-Wildfire Ecosystems with Proven Strategies
Join us on a post fire journey with Permaculture Educator, Matthew Trumm. We will explore strategies that can be deployed to address immediate post fire concerns such as 1) severe erosion and 2) toxic runoff mitigation and remediation, as well as long term strategies for land and community redesign and rebuilding. Matthew has been at the epicenter of everything surrounding the modern megafire, from responding to the Camp Fire in Paradise, to experiencing the wildfire that burned his own land and childhood home in Berry Creek, CA. He has responded and consulted on a half dozen megafires, including the recent tragic Maui fires, and also has founded two post fire Ecosystem Restoration Communities, the "Paradise" Eco Camp and the "Treetop" Eco Camp. Mathew will be sharing with us what he has learned along the way, including the many lessons of humility.

Matthew started his permaculture journey while living off grid on his family's 12-acre homestead and farm. There, in the mountains of California, Matthew began learning about forestry, wild mushroom foraging, organic veggie production. He also created a grant-funded school garden and garden education program. Following his passions, he then began working for and training with Dr. Elaine Ingham, as the Assistant Farm Manager, for her demonstration and research farm in Berry Creek, CA. Through this work, he became an expert in thermal composting application and scientific research, and worked with Penny Livingston-Clark to design the layout of the Berry Creek Farm.
Join as Matthew and Elaine are reunited years after working together. This will be an extraordinary conversation! As always, we will have a live audience question and answer session after the presentation.
